The most perfect crab ever seen
Among Chuang-tzu’s many skills, he was an expert draftsman. The king asked him to draw a crab. Chuang-tzu replied that he needed five years, a country house, and twelve servants. Twelve years later the drawing was still not begun. “I need another five years,” said Chuang-tzu. The king granted them. At the end of these ten years, Chuang-tzu took up his brush and, in an instant, with a single stroke, he drew a crab, the most perfect crab ever seen.

This is a story I read in an essay by Italo Calvino about two years ago, and that I suddenly remembered today. It resonates with how I have been feeling, intermittently, lately, about the creative process... about my own creative process, I suppose I should say.

All this to say that I may or may not be posting as many things as frequently, that instead I may be posting more-fully developed things more sporadically.
